Established in 2001, the Covington String Quartet has quickly become an important musical force. Charming and challenging audiences and critics alike with performances of classical and contemporary works, the Quartet retains a focus on great quartet masters of the 18th and 19th centuries.

The Covington String Quartet does not hesitate to explore new musical horizons. The Quartet recently premiered an original work by Japanese composer Yukiko Nishimura, created to accompany Thomas Edison's 1910 film, "Frankenstein." In 2004, a collaboration with composer Mark E. Wilson included several well-received performances of his Metamorphosis for String Quartet (2003).

In addition to an active performance schedule, the Covington String Quartet serves as the Sunderman Conservatory quartet-in-residence at Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
